Fire Plan

Call for Volunteers: Join the Fire Safety Planning Team!

Dear Neighbors,

Our community's  safety is our highest priority, and we need your expertise and commitment to build a robust, effective Fire Prevention, Early Alert, and Remediation Plan. This is an appeal for dedicated volunteer owners to form the core team that will structure this essential safety strategy.

Your time and commitment will directly translate into a safer community for every resident. Below outlines the vital areas this Volunteer Planning Team is Mandated to Address in collaboration with the Presidency and Administration:

I. Prevention and Preparation Mandates 🛡️

The team's first task is to establish the foundation for a safe environment by focusing on proactive measures:

  • Risk Zone Analysis: Identify and document all key risk zones (e.g., garages, electrical cupboards, vegetal areas) and develop a practical Modification Proposal and a recurring Maintenance Plan for these areas.
  • Resource Mapping & Management: Map all existing safety resources (detectors, alarms, hydrants, extinguishers, etc.). This effort culminates in a comprehensive Equipment Plan and a detailed Maintenance Plan that adheres to certified best practices (with consultation from fire prevention specialists).
  • Vulnerability Planning : Establish a sensitive and confidential process to identify vulnerable persons (with their explicit consent) and develop specific rescue plans, designated tutors, and tailored escape routes for them.
  • Escape Route Clarity: Map all escape routes, ensure clear signaling is in place, and confirm that pathways are perpetually decluttered.
  • Procedure Development: Define the Head Count Procedure (where, who, how) to output a simple, clear personal safety procedure. They will also identify and map designated Safe Spaces.
  • Critical First Aid: Identify critical first aid techniques for burns/smoke inhalation, ensuring the necessary equipment is available and a training plan is established for its efficient use.

II. Early Alert and Response Mandates 🚨

Focus will be placed on developing clear, immediate action protocols for when a fire is detected:

  • Reaction Protocols: Define how to react upon fire detection (who is responsible for what), including procedures for managing panic and safely utilizing initial resources like extinguishers and blankets while awaiting the Fire Brigade.
  • Unoccupied Spaces Protocol: Establish procedures for handling a fire starting in an empty apartment, garage, or common area, including clear guidelines for prioritizing personal safety during all response efforts.

III. Management and Deliverables Mandates 🤝

The core objective is to create an actionable, long-term plan ready for community approval:

  • Team Formation and Leadership: Organize into a cohesive group of three to five persons and select a committed Leader who will drive the process.
  • Remediation Check: Confirm the community's insurance coverage is sufficient to cover potential damage.
  • Final Documentation: Produce a complete package for the EGM, which includes:
    • A Detailed Plan for approval, complete with a justified budget and expense
    • A comprehensive Training Plan for all staff and volunteer owners.
    • A clear Communication Plan for the community.
    • A Signaling Campaign
